BITS OF THIS AND THAT

WHAT COULD BE BETTER?

What could be better than fresh

tomatoes and basil directly from your

own garden.  I’ve waited a few

years to have this and am really enjoying it.

The flowers are blooming and filling in the spaces

and the 2 tomatoe plants are trying to take over

the garden space.  Fortunately L put a stake into the

tomato cages so that now they, at least, stay pretty upright.

The wind does tend to make them lean.

Now if I could just get the computer to do as well.

It seems to not want to play well with

the internet, making it difficult to do some of

the things that I want to do, like post here.  It may

have to go to the shop again.  Ughhhh!  I wish it would either

work all the time or just plain go belly up so that I

knew what to expect.  But, that would just make life to

easy wouldn’t it?

ENJOY THE DAY!

It’s catchy

Do you remember this picture from a

few weeks ago?

The other day we went to pick up the granddaughters

for breakfast.  Take a look at their shoes.

Grandma’s feet in the middle.

It was a beautiful morning so we went to

Subway, ordered their breakfast combo with

lots of veggies, and ate outside.  My

favorite thing to do.  These girls are such

delightful young ladies.  It was time for us to

hear about Marta’s trip to Canada for a

road bike race and to see her medals.  She did

a great job up there.  Birgit raced in the

mountain bike nationals on the way home from ski

so we had to hear about that also.

She also did a great job for her first national race.

Sure wish the other grandkids were closer so

we could do breakfast with them sometimes also.

ENJOY THE DAY!

THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THE BEAUTY OF THEIR DREAMS

My garden is blooming crazy.  It’s been so

much fun to watch it grow and bloom.

I think that tomorrow I’ll be able to pick our fist

tomatoes.  Nothing better than tomatoes

from your garden.

I have bought a pedometer for

myself and am taking on the

challenge of 10.000 steps a day.  I started

using it on Sunday.  It’s been very interesting and

I think I have learned that to reach my

goal it will be necessary for me

to be sure to do my walk in the morning.  And,

it needs to be the longer routes that I have established.

Yesterday I did more than 11,000  steps, but today much less.

I took a shorter route this morning and I have

been doing computer work most of the day.  Sitting

at the computer doesn’t seem to add to

my step count.  There was a discussion on either

the tv or radio about alzheimers.  The comment was

that walking was one good way to prevent alzheimers

and who doesn’t want to try to do that.

But, it can be hard to get out

there every day early in the morning to beat the heat.

Especially when there are more fun things that I would

like to be doing, such as sewing.  But if I want

to keep sewing I may have to

keep up the walking.  Want to join me?

ENJOY THE DAY!

WHEN YOU FOLLOW YOUR BLISS DOORS WILL OPEN WHERE YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE DOORS. J. CAMPBELL

I finally got out some of my summer things.  I

really like this wall hanging which will soon

be for sale on my new website.  The vase

was painted by our daughter-in-law, Jenny.

She does such nice work and it’s always

so much fun to pull it out when summer comes

and enjoy the painted sunflowers.

It’s nice to be starting a new week with

a clean slate.  Last week was so busy.

Friday I went to Color Creek Fiberart Studio.

Mary and I made dye was crayons.  A fun adventure

as neither of us had done that before.  Tomorrow

I’ll see the results of our efforts.  I’m sure

that we will be melting and reforming some

of them.  It took me a while to  get the hang

of it so some of them didn’t look too good.  That’s

what an experiment is all about, isn’t it?

I’ve been working on getting pictures ready

for my new website.  It is much more work then I

thought it would be.  But then, arent’ most things?

We got some rain today.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

ART WASHES FROM THE SOUL THE DUST OF EVERYDAY LIFE. PABLO PICASSO

These are the 2 scarves that I

silk painted last week at Color Creek.

Going there is like art camp.  Sometimes it’s more fun to

do things with other people around.

I enjoy doing the silk painting once

in a while  instead of just doing the dyeing.

The results can be dramatically different.

I know that I am going to be doing more of this.

 This is something entirely

different from what I usually do.  It is good to stretch

myself with what I am trying to do.

Tomorrow is granddaughter day.  I’m going

to spend part of the day with the youngest granddaughter

here in town.  Her older sister is in Canada for an

international road bike race.  What wonderful

opportunities young people have these days.  When I was 14

I had yet to venture out by myself.

It’s so good for these young people to learn

about the outside world by seeing it first hand.

AND ANOTHER ATTEMPT AT THE ICE DYEING

By now you must be convinced that I have vanished.

You know what “they” say

Haste makes waste.

Well, in the rush to get this posted, I evidently

forgot to “publish”.  Duhhhh

This time the problem was–too small a container,

too much fabric.

There are some more really nice

parts of each, but not the bloom that I

had hoped for.  I am certainly learning

patience and persistence.  I aim to get good results

one of these times.  Maybe tomorrow as

I’m going to try again.

I spent many hours this weekend trying to

get things photographed and somewhat

organized on my computer.  I need

to get things ready to be posted

to my new website, which I hope will be

up and running soon.

Stay tuned.

ENJOY

Not a happy surprise

Not the best, but not the worst either.  There

are some very nice areas in each grouping.

I think that I know what I did wrong here.

I used too big a container and didn’t

fill it with enough fabric.

Next I’m going to overdye this with the same technique

using a smaller container and see what happens.

Usually I have been very happy with my dyeing

so this is a disappointment, but also

a learning experience.

Always look on the bright side, right?

Time to sign off.  I’m tired after

spending a day silk painting with Mary,

although we often do more talking than working.

Mary and I have scheduled a play day to make soy wax

crayons.  Should be fun and interesting.

Enjoy the day!
